T-2/HT-2 Analysis

"Trichotescenes" formed by secondary metabolites of Fusarium, Stachybotry, Trichothecium, Kerticimosporium, Cephalosporium and Cylindrocarpen fungi are mycotoxins to be considered. They develop easily in the appropriate temperature and humidity environment.

T-2 and HT-2 are also important mycotoxins in this group. T-2 is a type A trichothecene with the highest toxicity. Due to its toxicity, it has been found to reduce bone marrow cells and inhibit protein and DNA synthesis.

T-2 toxin causes liver and kidney damage as well as peeling of the skin and mucous membranes. It is mostly found in cereals and legumes. They retain their structure under storage or normal cooking conditions.

T-2 and HT-2 mycotoxins are usually evaluated together. Because T-2 toxin can be easily metabolized to HT-2 toxin. They cause various adverse effects on many animals. Dairy cattle and poultry are generally affected.
