What are the Purposes of Irrigation Water Analysis?

Irrigation Water Analysis

The quality of irrigation water is very important in terms of irrigated lands. In particular, aridity may occur in the soil due to reasons such as increased salinity depending on the quality of the water. Therefore, irrigation water should be tested.

Purposes of Irrigation Water Analysis:

- Determination of quality characteristics of irrigation water
- Determination of the substances in its content
- Determining the effects of irrigation water on plant development

The points and times of water sampling are also very important:

In still waters; The deepest part of the water should be sampled from three points: deep, middle and surface.

In underground waters; The water sample is taken after the water drawn by the pump has flowed for 15-20 minutes.

In streams; Sample should be taken from a depth of 50 cm.

In mains waters; The sample should be taken after the water flows from the fountain for 30-60 seconds.

Sample containers must be clean during sampling. Containers should be well sealed after sampling and stored under applicable conditions.
